This guide covers how to find companies with Cyndx Finder and get the most value from your searches.

Start a Search

Sign into the platform at app.cyndx.com, then open the Finder tab.

Enter a company name or a concept, then select your choice from the dropdown.

  1. Click the Search button

  2. Explore results

    • Companies similar to your search input, as identified by Finder's NLP algorithm

    • Prominent Companies well-known in the space

    • Active Investors and Acquirers

    • Public Comparables and their valuation multiples

    • The most Related News articles on companies based on your search results

Companies Vs. Concepts

In Finder, there are two ways to explore a particular space. You can search by a company within that space, or by a concept which describes it.

For example, if you want to explore the ride-sharing space, you can either search for Uber (company) or rideshare (concept).

It's important to remember that concepts are broader than companies. For this reason, we suggest searching by a company for more precise results.

Helpful Hint:

  • If you don't see a company appear in the dropdown, try searching by URL.

  • If a company is not yet in our database, Click Add to our database so we can map it as quickly as possible.

  • We will notify you by email once it is available to search

Modify a Search

Add, remove, or change companies and pre-filters, then click the Search button.

Repeat a Search

Click the Finder tab at the top of the page to return to the initial search bar. Scroll down to Recent Searches and select from your last 3 searches. To view your entire search history, click View all.

Using Filters

Use search pre-filters to limit results by the following criteria:

  • Location: Restrict results to a particular country or state

  • Web presence: See how often other websites link to the target's website

  • Sector / Industry: Narrow your results by industry classification

  • Funding Stage: Search for companies based off how much funding they have received, if any

  • Companies with financials: Return similar companies with financials (mostly public ones)

  • Projected to raise capital: Only see companies likely to raise more capital within 6 months

Helpful Hint: We recommend starting your search without pre-filters, then adding as you iterate your search. This will ensure you don't eliminate relevant companies that you would expect to see.

After running a search, pinpoint companies within your results that have certain attributes.

  • Use the filters at right to select preferred locations, company characteristics, and financial metrics.

Helpful Hint: Switch off "include unknown" to only see companies which have data available.

The filters to the right will narrow your search results by you criteria. If you'd like to widen your results by criteria, apply a filter at the top and rerun your search.

Creating Lists

Select companies of interest, then click Add to list.

  • Move your mouse over a company logo to reveal a checkbox, then click select

  • Access to saved lists in the Lists tab

Helpful tip: You can create a list and customize fields for export, including contact data, using Explorer:

  • Create, name and save your list in Finder

  • From the left hand side, select the dimensions you would like to export
