Here's a guide on how investment bankers use Finder:

1. Identify targets to advise clients on M&A strategy

A. Search by company

  • If you have the name of an ideal target in mind, entering the name of company is the fastest way to search for similar acquisition targets in Finder. If you do not immediately see the company name in the search typeahead, try entering the company website URL.

From your results, you can select the most relevant target(s) to run a new Finder search. You will see a menu to the right: click the menu located next to the carat and select the option to "See similar companies".

B. Search by concept

  • Finder search allows you to look for concepts with no limitations. It enables users to enter keywords or phrases in natural language to retrieve relevant results from a database, document, or system.

C. Search by Combining companies + concepts

  • With Finder, It also allows user to search using company name plus concept/s related to it.

3. Identify companies that will most likely be ready to sell or raise capital in the near future

  • Cyndx allows you to identify opportunities who may be ready to sell using our "Projected to Raise" feature. This is a broad term used throughout the platform to indicate that a company is potentially in need of capital. A company may be flagged as Projected-to-Raise if they are experiencing the following outcomes over the next 6-9 months:

    • Raise capital in exchange for equity

    • Be a potential acquisition target (i.e. likely to sell)

    • Preparing for an IPO

    • Goes out of business due to distress or the lack of ability to achieve one of the above outcomes

Projected to raise is an indicator that a company is highly in need of capital and they may be likely to take their next round to funding - or be open to an exit conversation.
