One of the complexities in understanding a company as a whole entity is being able to dissect the structure of all its assets. For this reason, we have developed a holistic view of an organization. We call this Organization Roll-Up.

The Organization Roll-Up feature enables users to understand the relationship between different companies on the platform by labeling top-level parent companies (those with subsidiaries) as well as labeling the subsidiary companies to show who their parent companies are.

Organization Roll-Up User Guide

Overview

The Organization Roll-up view shows a breakdown of a company's family tree, made up of its subsidiaries and acquisitions. In order to clearly express and categorize these relationships we have updated our company types to support this structure. All companies fall under one of the following categories:

PUBLIC COMPANIES

  • Public Parent- A public company with subsidiaries and/or acquisitions

  • Public- A public company without subsidiaries or acquisitions

  • Public Subsidiary- A public company that is a subsidiary of another company

PRIVATE COMPANIES

  • Private Parent- A private company with subsidiaries and/or acquisitions

  • Private- A private company without subsidiaries or acquisitions

  • Private Subsidiary- A private company that is a subsidiary of another company

OTHER CATEGORIES

  • Acquired- A company that has been acquired

  • Inactive- A company that has closed or is no longer active

How is the organization roll-up view most helpful to me as a user?

The organization roll-up view is meant to improve information discovery and visibility by helping users

  • easily understand the relationships between companies, and

  • view the acquisitions, investments and funding of all subsidiary companies aggregated on the parent company profile.

How do these changes affect me?

You will notice these updates in three places, see below examples of each:

  1. Finder filtering options are now more granular, to deliver only the types of entities that you want to see

  2. In the search bar, as you type, you will notice each entity is tagged by type

  3. On the company profile itself

Here are some examples of each:

  1. Shown here, new company type labels allow for more granular filters.
Also, notice Acquired is now a toggle that can be turned on and off.

2. Company types shown in search typeahead...

...also shown in Finder search typeahead and results

3. Company type shown on company profile
